Obituary of Ruby Kersh Whitesides

Services for Ruby Kersh Whitesides, 89, Troup, are scheduled for 10:30 am, Friday, January 15, at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup with the Reverend David Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Troup. Mrs. Whitesides died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 in a Tyler nursing home. She was born August 11, 1920 in Troup to the late Robert K. and Luda Martin Kersh. She was a lifetime resident of Troup. Mrs. Whitesides was a homemaker and had also worked for Cream Lure, Unimar, and the Troup Dress Factory. She attended Henry's Chapel United Methodist Church. She married Walter Aaron Whitesides February 8, 1937, in Bossier City, Louisiana. He preceded her in death February 8, 2008. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by five brothers, Tom Kersh, R. T. 'Pete' Kersh, Loyd Kersh, Gordon Kersh, and Leo Kersh and a sister, May Bell Lane. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Diane Whitesides, Whitehouse; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirlyn and Dudley Chappell, Tyler; a brother, Elvis Kersh, Tyler; a sister, Francis Monday, Quitman; four grandchildren and their spouses, Danny and Teresa Chappell, Palestine, Linda and Tony Ray, Tyler and Polly and Rob Chennault and Dusty and Amanda Whitesides all of Whitehouse; seven great grandchildren, Michael Ray, Zack Ray, Kelly Chappell, Madison Chennault, Olivia Chennault, Griffin Chennault, and Blake Whitesides; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm, Thursday, January 14. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice, 1400 Rice Road, Suite100, Tyler, Tx 75703.
