Obituary of Georgie Meyer

Funeral services for Georgie Bell Meyer, 97, Kilgore, will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 13, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton, with Reverend Glenn Barton and Reverend Buddy Shelton officiating. Burial will be in the Overton City Cemetery. Mrs. Meyer died Tuesday November 10, 2009 in a Tyler hospital. She was born October 28, 1912 in Winchester, Tennessee to the late Berry Grady and Cora Lee Lloyd Hall. She married the late W. O. 'Shorty' Meyer October 12, 1927 in Greenwood, Arkansas and moved to the Kilgore area in the 1930's. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading her Bible, quilting and word search puzzles. She had a great love for her family and her friends. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and she was a member of the Calvary Way Pentecostal Church of Kilgore. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Tony and Clifford Meyer, a daughter, Alma Gordon, three brothers, James Hall, Tom Hall, and Berry Grady Hall, Jr., two sister, Mary Emma Hall and Velma Deaton. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Dorothy Meyer and Terry and Debbie Meyer of Kilgore and Rodney and Regina Meyer of New London; five daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Lonnie Mitchell of Gilmer, Nona and Loy Gordon, Debbie and Robin Wheeler, Patricia and Buddy Shelton and Wilma and Glenn Barton all of Kilgore; twenty six grandchildren; forty three great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Brenda Cubine of New London; and a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Brent Barton, Scotty Shelton, Kem Wheeler, Curtis Jarman, Kenneth Jarman and Wesley Meyer. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, November 12.
