I was so desperately sad today to learn of Barbara's passing. I am a very old friend of Barb's from college days at SFA. For many years, and through many moves, we lost touch, but I never forgot her and missed her deeply. In recent years, we found each other again, and although she was always very busy, she found time to communicate via notes and E-Mail. Somehow all the wonderful tributes written to her here are not a surprise. Of all the people I have ever known, I think Barbara was one of the loveliest with such a bright indelible spirit. Even back then she could barely step down from a curb without assistance, but she never complained. Her's was a bright, sharp, positive spirit. My sincere condolences go John for this deep, personal loss. You two were a beautiful couple who showed what true love can really be. As long as I have a memory, I will never forget Barbara. I am so glad our paths intersected.

John, my deepest sympathy to you as you go through this time. Barbara was absolutely a one-in-a-million kind of person, wonderfully intelligent, witty, and perfectly charming. I am so glad I had the great privilege of knowing and working with her. She was truly a delight. I will be thinking of you in the days ahead, and anytime you have a moment, stop in at TJC and say hi.

Richard and I wish to send our condolences. We enjoyed the visit with you and Barb when you made the trip to Lewisville once while Ron and Sharion were here. We're sure she was an inspiration to all.

Barbara was an inspiration to me, both in the professional life that I knew from teaching with her at TJC, and in her life of faith, humor, and love.

Barbara will be missed on our campus. No matter how much pain she was in, she always had a smile and words of encouragement for me.

Dear John, Bob and I share your loss in the deepest way. I considered Barb my dearest friend on earth and we shared so much in common especially at the spiritual level. There is no way there will ever be another to replace the loving strength she represented to me. I have let Alan and Julie know of your loss, ours also. We will be seeing you and hoping these ensuing weeks and days will give you some peace in knowing she is well within the heartspace of her LOVING SOURCE. Love, Kathy Golightly

John, My thoughts and prayers are with you. Barbara leaves quite a large hole for such a tiny bird-like woman. I will always remember her big smiling eyes and her undaunted spirit even in the face of what I know was significant pain for much of her life. She had such an ability to connect with people, and I consider her a dear friend. We had so much in common: our Methodism, teaching English and French, and perfect husbands.

Barb was one of a kind. She left a positive mark here at Tyler Junior College where she was respected and loved by both her colleagues and her many students. She gave inspiration to those who most needed it, a true model of the faith she practiced--she didn't have to talk about that strong faith for she practiced it everyday. We will miss her. John, you have our deepest sympathies. Sarah Harrison TJC English Department

I was so sad to hear about Barbara's passing. I knew her as a fellow English teacher at TJC. She was a beautiful soul. We had many, many chats about English, about family, about God, about life in general. I will cherish those talks. My sincerest sympathies go out to John, her precious husband. I was always so touched by the loving care he took of her - sometimes carrying her books from class to class, picking her up and dropping her off. What a lovely couple they made. My prayers are with you, John. I was blessed to know your wife.
