Obituary of Evelyn Melton

Services for Evelyn Melton, 93, Overton, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, May 24, 2019 at the Arp First Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Rice and Reverend Sam Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery in Troup. Arrangements are under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.

Mrs. Melton passed away, Tuesday, May 21, 2019 in Tyler. She was born March 11, 1926 in Palestine to the late Samuel and Allie Mae Wyatt. She married the love of her life, Loyd Melton on April 17, 1943 in Troup. She lived in the Overton community for over 40 years and retired as a Telephone Service Representative for United Telephone Company. She was a member of the Arp First Baptist Church and she loved spending time with her family and friends and playing skipbo.

Besides her parents, Mrs. Melton was also preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Melton, sister, Vernice Murray and a great-great grandson, Cole Moore.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ronny Melton and Barbara of Troup; daughter, Jackie Dominey of Troup; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Cook and Stacey of Overton; 6 grandchildren, Shannon Melton, Kimberly Mahoney, Dustin Melton, Melissa & Darron Lafield, Michelle & Rodney Pollard, Taylor & Lindsey Cook; 12 great-grandchildren, Lexie Fagan, Carlie Melton, Gavin Melton, Kaylen Daugherty, Tristan Mahoney, Kaden Mahoney, Noah Melton, Olivia Melton, Jeffrey Moore, Joshua Moore, Cesaley Wimberley, Dalen Pollard; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Hadilie Bell, Nash Wimberley and Nirvana Fagan.

Pallbearers are, Shannon Melton, Jeffery Moore, Joshua Moore, Taylor Cook, Dalen Pollard, Tristan Mahoney and Kaden Mahoney.
