I shot skeet with Mr. Lackey at the old greater Houston Gun Club on S Main in Houston in the early 70's. He was a great shot and a very kind man. I'm sorry to say I lost track of him after I began my adult career. He played an important part of shaping my adult life and had a great influence on me. God bless him and your family in this time of loss.

I regret your loss. However, remembering Mr. Lackey brought back fond memories. I wish that I had known that he was in the Tyler area. I was a student of his in 1962. He was one of the good guys. He was an excellent teacher, and that comes from a guy who hated high school.
One day, Mr. Lackey placed an apple on his desk and told everyone to leave it alone. He then left the room. Sounded like a challenge to me, so I took a bite from his apple and placed it back on his desk. Turns out he was serious. But, after I paid him a quarter for his apple everything was ok. I still laugh about it.
I am a retired District Chief from the Tyler FD. My wife and have lived in the area since 1973. We have 2 children.
Remembering Mr. Lackey is pleasant.

Mr Lackey was one of my favorite teachers at Pasadena High. He was a lasting influence on many students there. My thoughts are with his family.
