Obituary of Charles Edwin Honeycutt
Services for Charles Edwin ‘Buddy’ Honeycutt, 85, Overton,will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 9, 2015 in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Fred Parsons and Atwell Hankins officiating. Military graveside services will follow at Rusk County Memorial Gardens, Henderson.
Mr. Honeycutt died Monday, July 6, 2015 in Henderson. He was born June 13, 1930 in Henderson to the late Rueben O. and Ella Dee Reagan Honeycutt. He is a Veteran of the US Army and served in the Khorean War. He married Shirley Skipper February 28, 1956 in Jasper and moved to Overton. He owned and operated Buddy’s Grocery Store and The Korner Koffee Kup until 1991, both in Overton. He operated the Pro Shop at the Overton Golf Club for 10 years and he had a cattle business. He has been a member of the V.F.W., the Overton Area Chamber of Commerce, the Overton Rotary Club, the Overton City Council, and the Rocky Mount Masonic Lodge #63. He was also a member of the Overton First United Methodist Church and had served as a church officer. He had been a member of the 32nd Scottish Rite, and Sharon Temple Shriners. He helped organize the Kiwanis Club in Overton.
Besides his parents, Mr. Honeycutt was also preceded in death by two brothers, Reagan Honeycutt and Don Honeycutt, and a sister, Jean Holder.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Honeycutt, Overton; his son and daughter-in-law, Skipper and Terry Honeycutt, Overton; his granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Holly and Mike Fisher, North Richland Hills; his great grandson, Jude Fisher; two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Carolyn and Raymond James, Lake Cherokee and Merle Davis, San Augustine.
Pallbearers will be Jody Holder, Johnny Holder, Randy James, Rick James, Don Honeycutt, Jr. and Evan Dean.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 8, 2015.
