Obituary of Billy Lacy
DATELINE: TROUP
NAME: WILLIAM GLENN “BILL” LACY
Funeral services for Bill Lacy, 46, Troup, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Troup with Reverends Chris Cliborn and David Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Bill entered into his Heavenly reward and joined his beloved Mawmaw, Carrie Persinger in Heaven on Thursday, May 7, 2015. He was born October 28,1968 in Tyler, Texas, to Jerry Glenn Lacy and Dorothy Marie Persinger Lacy.
Bill worked for Wal-Mart while he was in high school and college, was a graduate of TJC with his Associates Degree and Sam Houston State University with his Bachelor degree. He also attended Texas A&M in College Station, where he met the love of his life, his wife Aida. Bill started working in retail before transitioning into the banking industry eventually as assistant Vice President and Troup Branch Manager for Kilgore National Bank.
One of his favorite hobbies was reading and collecting super hero comic books, he enjoyed the convention and all the new friends he made. He liked dressing in his super hero costumes and held a costume contest every Halloween. Recently he helped organize and decorate the super hero dinner for the volunteers at the Salvation Army.
He was involved in several organizations including Troup Rotary Club, Troup Cares, Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors for New Creation Foundation, served 10 years on Troup School Board and was elected mayor in 2014. He was a deacon at Mixon First Baptist Church, Sunday School teacher, and Wednesday night youth group Kids for Christ leader. He loved public service and volunteer work and always encouraged others to do the same.
His last venue was the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast which was a huge success. Bill believed in prayer and was a prayer warrior. We hope that this breakfast will become an annual Troup tradition, and hope that everyone will come to the Lord and depend on prayer like Bill did.
Even in death Bill was still giving; he was an organ donor and the family is proud that a part of Bill will still live on. Everything he did was with the love and support of his wife Aida. Bill was a devoted son, husband and father. His love for God, family and friends was evident in all he did. His friendly smile and love of Troup and its people will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 21 years, Aida Lacy, of Troup; daughters, Katherine Lacy and Tiffany Lacy, both of Troup; parents Jerry Glenn and Dorothy Lacy, of Troup; uncle David Persinger and wife Bobbie, of Troup; aunt Mable Sayes and husband Cecil, of Vick, LA; father- and mother-in-law Jose and Catalina Ovalle, of College Station; sisters-in-law Maria Ovalle, Sandra Gonzales, Araceli Gonzales and Delia Arreola; brothers-in-law Joe Ovalle, Jr. and Jerry Ovalle; special friend Colton Lackey of Troup; and numerous other relatives and friends.
