Obituary of Maudie Lee Calicutt
Services for Maudie Lee Calicutt, 100, Overton, will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 5, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton with Reverend Mike Rice officiating. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Arp.
Mrs. Calicutt died Monday, February 2, in Overton. She was born January 16, 1915 in Grayson County to the late George Edward and Nannie Layne. She met and married the love of her life, Onnie Lee Calicutt on May 12, 1934, spending 48 wonderful years together.
Maudie was a faithful follower of Christ, devoted wife and loving mother, sweet grandmother and friend to all who knew her. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arp, and a member of Eastern Star in Troup. Her family was blessed to have learned many valuable lessons from Maudie during her 100 years of life.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by grandsons, Steve and Ben Moore, sisters, Delores Edwards, Wilma Hooker, and brothers, Oliver, Edward, C.O. and Randy Layne.
Her spirit lives on in her daughter and son-in-law, Genie and Denny Williamson of Arp, sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny ‘Bud’ and Nita Calicutt, and Eddie Lynn and Jackie Calicutt, Arp; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Mary Lou Layne of Tyler; Nanny was adored by all her grandkids Candi Calicutt Charles, Cristi and Jeremy Flowers, Cheron Calicutt all of Arp, Patrick and Daphne Pratt of Troup, Lee Ann and Jeff Knox of Austin, and Mark and Erin Calicutt of Troup; great grandkids Chaise McFarland, Steven and Justin Pratt, Adrian and Colby Winters, Andrew Turner, Aubrey Lynn and John Wallace Knox, Karli and Cole Flowers, Trenton Steele, and Camryn Lyles; great great grandkid, Cade Winters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be P.M. Pratt, Mark Calicutt, Trenton Steele, John Layne, Jason Layne and Nolin Calicutt.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, February 4.
