Obituary of Eldonna Womack

Gravesides services for Eldonna Womack, 67, Troup, are scheduled for 10;00 am, Thursday, February 22, at the Union Grove Cemetery, near Troup, with Reverend Gaylon Taylor officiating. Burial is under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mrs. Womack died Monday, February 19, 2007, in a Troup nursing home. She was born September 16, 1939 in Conroe to William A. and Evelyn L. Athey Smith. She was a graduate of Willis High School and the nursing school at Henderson Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Womack had been employed for 16 years as a LVN at Westwood Convalescent Home, Troup. She had lived in Troup for 46 years and was a member of West Duval Baptist Church, Troup. She married Dwayne Womack, November 23,1957. She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Womack in 1985 and a daughter, Dee Ann Guthrie in 2000. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, M. D. 'Buddy' Womack, Troup; one son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Becky Womack, Troup; one daughter and son-in-law, Mona and Eric Ables, Whitney; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Diana Smith,Lake Striker; 6 grandchildren,; and 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, February 21. If desired, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
