Obituary of Mary Atkins

Services for Mary E. Atkins, 90, New London, are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 24, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton, with the Pastors Jim Atkins and Raymond Burrows officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near New London. Mrs. Atkins died Sunday, January 21, in a Tyler nursing home. She was born December 13, 1916 in Mooringsport, Louisiana to the late Jim and Lora Webster Estess, She was a homemaker and was a member of the Arp Assembly of God. Mrs. Atkins was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin T. Atkins, June 23, 1988, and by a son, Oneal Atkins; a grandson, Alan McDaniel; and three sisters, Harriet Sturgeon, Gladys Pittman, and Fannie Butcher. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Judy Atkins, Grand Saline; a daughter, Doris Willoughby, New Chapel Hill; five grandchildren, Randall Gene McDaniel, Mary Ann Murlin, Terri Atkins, Jan Miller, and Joe Atkins; and 15 great-grandchildren, Joshua Randall McDaniel, Alicia Ann Forbus, Sandra Reneé Forbus, Alton Forbus, Jr.,Tarin Woodall, James Alan McDaniel, Krista Bjork, Joel Nutt, Kory Castor, Emily Miller, Jill Atkins, Lacey Atkins, Hollie Atkins, Dustin Ortego, and Kaitlan Ortego; 8 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Randy McDaniel, Josh McDaniel, Pete Murlin, Joe Atkins, Don Waggoner, and Ronnie Miller. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 23.
