Obituary of Ruby Barton
Services for Ruby L. Barton, 79, Arp, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 17, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton with the Reverend Doctor Ron Klingsick officiating. Burial will be in the Mason Cemetery, Arp.
Mrs. Barton died Sunday, January 14, in an Overton nursing home. She was born March 9, 1927, in Junction City, Texas to the late Robert L. and Mattie Lou Burgen Speaks. She was a longtime resident of Arp. Mrs. Barton retired as a seamstress from Levi Strauss, Tyler. She was a member of the Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Speaks and Alton Speaks and two sisters, Violet Lewis and Bonnie Baker.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Omega and Joe Kitchings, Arp and Linda and Don Langford, Tyler; a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Kathy Speaks, Arp; a sister and brother-in-law, Mattie Belle and Marvin Jones, Longview; six grandchildren, Steve Kitchings, Sr., Mike Kitchings, Dan Kitchings, Tony Jones, Tina Skeen, and Bonnie Maxfield; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Steve Kitchings, Sr., Mike Kitchings, Dan Kitchings, Tony Jones, Robby Maxfield, and Frank Odom.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to The Hope Foundation of Greater Tyler, 120 East South Town Drive, Suite 200, Tyler, TX 75703.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, January 16.
