Obituary of Damon McCauley

Graveside services for Damon F. McCauley, Sr., 83, Tyler, are scheduled for 9:00 am, Thursday, May 26, at the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup with the Reverend Darryle Dunks officiating under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 am, Thursday, May 26 at the Green Acres Baptist Church chapel, Tyler. Mr. McCauley died Monday, May 23, at his residence. He was born September 10, 1927, in Haynesville, Louisiana to the late Thomas Franklin McCauley and Mayme Prock McCauley. He moved to Tyler from New Orleans in 1986. He was a graduate of Carlisle High School and attended Stephen F. Austin State University. Mr. McCauley was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Marathon Oil Company. Mr. McCauley was a member of the Green Acres Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon Emeritus.  He married Ima Jean Elliott in Troup September 8, 1950. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ima Jean Elliott McCauley, Tyler; two sons and daughters-in-law, Damon F. McCauley, Jr. and Cindy McCauley, Sugarland and Dr. Steve McCauley, Sr. and Dr. Heather McCauley, Tarpon Springs, Florida; a daughter, Kay Elliott, Katy; a brother, Ramon McCauley, Hallsville; a sister and brother-in-law, Mavis and Don Simecek, Yorktown; five grandchildren, Kati McCauley and Matthew McCauley both of Sugarland, Emily Elliott, Cincinnati, Ohio, Samantha Elliott, Katy, and Steve McCauley, Jr., Tarpon Springs, Florida; and numerous nephews and nieces. If desired, memorials may be made to the Childrens' Ministeries of Green Acres Baptist Church, 1607 Troup Highway, Tyler, TX 75701-5799.
