Obituary of Bob White

Services for Robert F. 'Bob' White, III, 63, Troup, are scheduled for 3:00 pm, Monday, December 20, at the First United Methodist Church, Troup with the Reverend Mike Cline officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mr. White died Friday, December 17, 2010, at his residence. He was born July 29, 1947, in Jacksonville to the late Robert F. White, Jr. and Mary Pearl Ray White. He was a lifetime resident of Troup. A 1965 graduate of Troup High School, he was also a graduate of Tyler Junior College. He received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Accounting from the University of North Texas. He was a Certified Public Accountant and was employed as a senior systems analyst for Texas Eastman, Longview for 32 years. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corps for four years. Mr. White was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Troup where he had served as treasurer for many years. He was also a member of the choir, had served on both the Administrative Board and Administrative Council, on the Pastor-Parish relations committee, and was active in the Food Pantry ministry at the church.  He had also served on the Pastor-Parish Relations committee and was a member of the United Methodist Men. He married Beth Helton, in Troup, December 17, 1983. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Ryan White and his father-in-law, Reverend George Helton. Survivors include his wife, Beth Helton White, Troup; a son, Cody White, Troup; mother-in-law, Faye Helton, Huntington; brother-in-law, Don Helton, Troup; an uncle, Clifton Johnson, Point; and two cousins, Judy Avery, Fayetteville, Arkansas and Jo Ellen Stringfellow, Point. Pallbearers will be Joe Paul McElroy, Ben Hall, Melton Wright, Joe Carlyle, Bill Mowery, Gary Salyer and Steve Sadler. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Wilson, Jim Carlyle, Ted Salyer and Ron Fix. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Sunday, December 19.
