Obituary of Marilyn Hogue
Services for Marilyn Moore Hogue, 89, Overton, are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Monday, November 22, at the
Laird Hill Baptist Church with the Reverends Edwin Findley and Byron Allen officiating. Entombment will be in Rusk County Memorial Gardens, Henderson, under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
Mrs. Hogue died Saturday, November 20, 2010, in a Kilgore nursing facility. She was born February 20, 1921, in Omaha, Texas to the late Wesley Jackson Moore and Fronia Trumble Moore.
She was a graduate of Omaha High School and received her bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State Teacher's College in 1941. In 1962, she received her master's in education from Sam Houston State University, Huntsville. She was a public school teacher for 35 years, retiring in 1981, teaching in Cameron, El Paso, Dayton and, for the last 19 years of her career, Overton.
Mrs. Hogue married Joe Hogue in Beaumont, November 29, 1956. Residents of Overton since 1962, she was a member of the Laird Hill Baptist church, where she was an active teacher and member of the choir.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Ron Haney, January 10, 2005 and by her twin brother, William Moore; brothers, Robert Moore and Wesley David Moore; and sister, Josephine Dedman.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Joe Hogue, Overton; a son and daughter-in-law, Ken Haney and Cathy Haney, Lake Travis; daughter-in-law, Julie Haney, Plano; brother and sister-in-law, George Milton and Carolyn Moore, Wolfe City; sister-in-law, Emma Moore, Jacksonville; grandchildren and their spouses, Shannon and David Wright, Shawn Haney, Ashley and Austin Evans, Brandon and Elizabeth Haney, Sean and Cortney Haney, Brian Haney and David Haney; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Sunday, November 21.
