Obituary of Ruth Allen
Services for Ruth Ann Allen, 86, Arp, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 16, 2006 at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton, with the Reverend Doctor Ron Klingsick and Reverend Artie Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Mason Cemetery, Arp.
Miss Allen died Monday, November 13, at her residence.
She was born February 28, 1920, in Smith County, to the late Richard Phillip 'Dick' Allen and Paralee Sieber Allen.
Miss Allen was a member of the First Assembly of God, Arp. Her patriotic career during the World War II years carried her from Houston as a telephone operator, to Camp Fannin, Tyler, then to the Red River Depot Ordinance at Texarkana. Before retiring with the United Gas Company, she had worked in the Smith County Clerk's office for Ernest Christian.
In addition to her parents, Miss Allen was preceded in death by her sisters, Mattie Sanders and Martha Newman; her brothers, John Mark Allen, Sr., and Richard Floyd Allen; and a niece, Charlotte Renee Carroll Parker.
Aunt Ruth, affectionately known as "Aunt Toot" to her 21 nieces and nephews, expressed her love for each one in such a unique way that all felt assured that they were #1 in her heart.
Survivors include her twin brother, James Reuben Allen, Arp and her sisters, Mozelle Allen Carroll, Baytown and Corrine Allen Tubb, Dallas; and 20 nieces and nephews, Charles E. Sanders, Loneta Nelson, Sarah Hanson, Carole Pool, John Michael Allen, Jackie Calicutt, James Rickey Allen, Debbie Shannon, John Mark Allen, Jr., Richard Phillip Allen, Cullen Louis Tubb, III, Billy Steven Allen, Allen Earle Carroll, Allen Richard Tubb, Kenneth Lynn Allen, Karen Courville, Jan Kee, Larry Earl Tubb, Pamela Bowers, and Gregory Keith Allen.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
