Obituary of Michael Ray House
Services for Michael Ray House, 47, of the Concord community, near Troup, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 19, at the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Reverends Mark Davenport and Duane Dougherty officiating. Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
He died Saturday, May 14, 2011, in Concord. He was born April 9, 1964, in Tyler to James and Gloria Martin House. He was a lifetime resident of the Concord community. A graduate of Carlisle High School, he also attended Kilgore Junior College.
After he completed his education, he worked for Neckover Trailer in Troup before beginning his career at Kelly-Springfield, Tyler where he was employed for 22 years. While employed at Kelly-Springfield, he was a member of Local #746 of the United Steel Workers Union of America.
Mr. House had served as a former president of the New Concord Water Supply Corporation and was also a former president of the Carlisle Athletic Booster club. He was always a strong supporter of both the Concord community and the Carlisle Public School system. He had also served as the coach of an undefeated Carlisle Oil Belt baseball team.
He and his sons enjoyed their joint hobby and passion which was their House Cattle Company.
Mr. House was also very active in his church. He was a member and Elder of the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he also taught a youth Sunday School Class.
He married Melinda Craig October 13, 1990.
Mr. House was preceded in death by his father, James House and grandparents, Willard and Pauline Martin and George E. House, Sr. and by his father-in-law, Joe Craig.
He is survived by his wife Melinda Craig House, Concord; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Caleb and Morgan House and Colby House, all of Concord; a granddaughter, MacKenzie House, Concord; his mother, Gloria House, Concord; a brother, Kerry House, Whitehouse; grandmother, Verda House, Henderson; mother-in-law, Delores Craig, Price; nephew, Luke House; niece, Hannah House; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Alewine, Anthony Cox, James Ray Martin, Charles Oldham, Gary Martin, Tony Martin, Charlie Mahaffey, Chester Pond, Gailon Johnston, Clois Martin and Barry Burton.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Elders of the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church and uncles, Harold Hawkins, Willard Martin, Bobby House and George E. House, Jr.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 212 CR 4705, Troup, TX 75789 or to the Michael House FFA Scholarship fund at Carlisle ISD, P.O. Box 187, Price, TX 75687.
The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Wednesday, May 18.
