Obituary of Joseph Coleman Carpenter
Funeral services for Joseph Coleman Carpenter, 78, Arp, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 12 in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Marvin Harman officiating. Burial will be in the Williams cemetery near Arp.
Mr. Carpenter died Friday, November 10, 2006 at his home in Arp. He was born September 4, 1928 in Arp to the late Charlie and Jimmie Franklin Carpenter. He was a life long resident of Arp and married Christine Dunlap. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Retired Truck Driver. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Coleman Ward, a brother, Hubert Franklin Carpenter and two sisters, Mildred Carpenter Stephenson and Della Stoker.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Carpenter of Arp; a son, Johnny Carpenter of Arp; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Steve Allen of Arp; a brother, Royal Edwin Carpenter, Japan; three sisters, Lorene Kirksey of Fort Worth, Juanita Martin of Arp, and Barbara Jayne Torrez of Chapel Hill; a grandson and grand daughter-in-law, Wesley 'Adam' and Camille Ward; a granddaughter, Wendy Carpenter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Lyles, Don Reep, Dugan Lyles, Donnie Linkinholker, Ronnie Carpenter, and Johnny Stoker. Honorary pallbearers will be J. T. Crumpler and Worth McMillion, Amelia, Virginia.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 11, at the funeral home
