Obituary of Lois Jakubik
Services for Lois A. Jakubik, 78, Troup, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Monday, October 4 at the First Assembly of God Church, Troup with the Reverends Wes Bynum and Tracy D. Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Mrs. Jakubik died Wednesday, September 29, 2010, in a Jacksonville nursing home. She was born April 29, 1932, in Burleson County, Texas to the late John Thomas Lewis and Emma Lee Davis Lewis.
She married Frank Jakubik, Sr., in Caldwell, October 1, 1949. She had been a resident of Troup since 1973. She was a homemaker and had also worked in the camera department at Gipson Discount Center.
Mrs. Jakubik was a prolific writer, writing children's stories and poems. Her published poem, In Him, received the Editor's Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry.
She was a 'mother at heart' for all kids.
Mrs. Jakubik was devoted to the Lord and held numerous positions in the churches she served. She cofounded two churches, Victory Chapel in New Summerfield and Bethel Temple in Bryan. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Troup.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a grandson, Robi Dean and four brothers, T.J. Lewis, Oscar Lewis, Curtis Lewis, and Douglas Lewis.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frank Jakubik, Sr., Troup; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank Jakubik, Jr. and Charlsey Jakubik, Troup and Richard A. and Debbie Jakubik, Whitehouse; brother and sister-in-law, Forrest and Bonnie Lewis, College Station; grandchildren and their spouses, Frank Paul and Jennifer Jakubik, Tricia Dean, Tami and Brad Farr, Kevin Louis and Stacy Jakubik, Dusty Allen and Christine Jakubik, and Pat and Kelly Barton; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Frank P. Jakubik, Kevin L. Jakubik, Dustin Jakubik, Zack Dean, Thomas L. Lewis, Mark Lewis and Greg Lewis.
Honorary Pallbearers will be James Garrett, Don Weeks, Gene Shuttlesworth, Elton Hubenak, Lance Howell and Donnie Royder.
The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Sunday, October 3.
