Obituary of Betty Bateman
Services for Betty Joy Bateman, 82, Kilgore, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 7, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton, with the Reverend Doctor Ron Klingsick officiating. Burial will be in the Mason Cemetery, Arp.
Mrs. Bateman died Thursday, September 2, 2010, in a Tyler hospice facility.
She was born July 28, 1928, in Omak, Washington to the late William and Minnie Leopold Markel.
Mrs. Bateman was a longtime resident of Arp and Kilgore, and was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church near Kilgore. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a Past Worthy Matron.
Mrs. Bateman was preceded in death by her husband, William R. "Bob" Bateman and brothers, Jim and Huey Markel.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Pamela Bateman, Arp and Bryan and Kay Bateman, Whitehouse; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Eleanor Markel, Omak, Washington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Lyle Gapen, Yakima, Washington, Margie and Bill Flugel, Lewiston, Idaho; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons, Jimmy Arber, Brian Neel, Clayton Bateman, Logan Tritt, Logan Neel and Bryce Neel.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Sunday, September 5.
