Obituary of Mildred Dorothy McLane

Services for Mildred Dorothy McLane, 83, Leverett's Chapel, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, October 19, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton, with the Reverends David Hampton and Eddie Hilburn officiating. Burial will be in Rusk County Memorial Gardens, near Henderson. Mrs. McLane died Monday, October 16, 2006, in a New London nursing home. She was born July 21, 1923, in Hillsboro to the late Chris E. and Ollie Clementine Bullman Lewis. She had been a resident of Leverett's Chapel since 1947. She was a graduate of Leverett's Chapel High School. Mrs. McLane had worked for Pope and Turner, Strickland's Gifts, Young's Clothing Store, and Kennamer's, all in Overton. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Kilgore. She married Leslie Earl McLane, February 27, 1942, in Corpus Christi. In addition to her parents, preceded in death by three brothers, Martel Lewis, Curtis Lewis, C.E. Lewis; a sister, Jean Suber; a granddaughter, Amye McLane Richardson, and a great-grandson, Casey McLane. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Leslie Earl McLane, Leverett's Chapel; three sons and daughters-in-law, David L. and Dee McLane, Longview, Steven L. and Ronda McLane, Baytown, and Rusty and Katie McLane, Overton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and the Reverend James Kirkland, White Oak and Nancy and Rex Roberts, Pasadena; five grandchildren, David M. McLane, Steven L. McLane II, Anthony Carl McLane, Stefani McLane, and Sarah Humphries; a host of great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson. Pallbearers will be her three sons, David L. McLane, Steven L. McLane, and Rusty McLane, and her three grandsons, Steven L. McLane, II, Antony Carl McLane, and Dave McLane. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, October 18.
