Obituary of Keith Cohagen
Services for Keith Cohagen, 59, Troup, are scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 18 at the Henry's Chapel United Methodist Church, near Troup, with Pastor David Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at Henry's Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Keith lost his heroic battle with cancer on Friday, July 16, 2010. He died in peace surrounded by his loving family and friends.
He was born February 18, 1951, in Overton to the late Jack and Dorothy Whitesides Cohagen. Keith was a member of the Troup High School class of 1969 and a member of the First Baptist Church, Troup. He retired from Unimin Corporation, Troup in 2009. He loved to spend time with his friends and family and especially with his grandchildren. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Cohagen, a brother-in-law, Randy Shuttlesworth, and his mother-in-law, LaVerne Shuttlesworth.
He married Sue Shuttlesworth in Troup, April 15, 1972.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Sue Cohagen, Troup; a daughter and son-in-law, Dusti and Clint Cover, Overton; a son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Ashley Cohagen, Troup; grandchildren, Bracey and Emory Cover, Kasen Bridges, and Kylan Cohagen; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda Sue and Albert "Shorty" Bayless, Troup; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Rasberry, Marlin, and Mary Cohagen, Troup; father-in-law, Loyd Shuttlesworth, Troup; aunts, Marvel Cohagen, Tyler, and Billie Hawkins, Troup; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends David and Lisa Sadler.
Pallbearers will be David Sadler, J.R. Forgy, Richard Locklear, Joe Paul McElroy, Kevin Gracie, Albert Bayless, Johnny Carizales and Justin Ferqueon.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Shawn Forgy, Nesby Willis, Butch Burns, Dennis Sadler, Denny Sadler, Stacy McGaughy, John Bradford, Jeremy Bunn and Gary McCutcheon.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00, Saturday, July 17.
