Obituary of Boyce Martin

Services for Boyce D. Martin, 80, New London, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Thursday, June 3 at the Arp Assembly of God Church with the Reverends Brian Williams and Artie Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Mason Cemetery, Arp, under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mr. Martin died Monday, May 31, 2010, in a Tyler hospital. He was born October 18, 1939, in Harrold, Texas to the late Earl Wesley Martin and Eva Lena Thompson Martin. He served as a Corporal in the Texas National Guard.   Mr. Martin moved to Overton from Seymour in 1983. He was employed as a pumper by May Oil Field Pipe and Supply, Overton and Crozier Oil Company, Tyler. He was a member of the Arp Assembly of God Church where he served on the Church Board.  Mr. Martin married Peggy J. Arber in Electra, Texas December 8, 1949. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lanita McDuff and six brothers. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Peggy Arber Martin, New London; a son and daughter-in-law, Darrel and Barbara Martin, Tyler; a son-in-law, Mike McDuff, Waco; grandchildren, Jeremy Martin, Charlotte Dameron, Cheryl Caraway, Cynthia Brown, Melissa Thrift and Rodney McDuff; 13 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Donald Arber, Arp; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Hodges, New London. Pallbearers will be Mike McDuff, Rodney McDuff, Jeremy Martin, Bob Garner, Vernon Minor and Glen Dowdy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Donny Heimer, Johnny Baker, Wayne Jordan and Homer Bundrick. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Wednesday, June 2.
