Obituary of Jimmy Hipp
Jimmy Dan Hipp, 72, Midland went to be with our Lord on Friday, May 21, 2010. He was born December 1, 1937 in Blackwell, Texas to the late Joseph and Josie Tubb Hipp.
Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Tuesday, May 25, at the
First Baptist Church, Blackwell with the Reverend Randall McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the
Blackwell Cemetery, under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup, Texas.Visitation will be at the at the First Baptist Church, Blackwell, from 10:00 am until Noon, Tuesday, May 25.
He retired from (Western Electric, AT&T, Lucent Technologies) in 2000 after forty years of service with many fond memories of his co-worker friends and a job that required working in many remote West Texas telephone office locations.
In Jimmy's teen age years in Blackwell, a young Wilson girl caught his eye and before long the two were inseparable. He asked for and received Charlotte's hand in marriage in 1957. Jimmy and Charlotte Wilson Hipp had been married fifty-two years this past December 28th.
Jimmy's passion in his life was for his family and his favorite times were always when the family got together. Jimmy also made sure that the extended family knew that their close relationship to one another was of paramount importance to him. He enjoyed camping, cruising, and just traveling in general.
Jimmy was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, would eagerly share that faith, loved reading the Bible and led his family to be faithful as well. Along with his faith, Jimmy was also very patriotic and cared deeply for his country.
His numerous grandchildren adored their Pawpaw and treasured their time with him whether in yard work, video games, card games, camping or church activities.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Wilson Hipp, Midland, Texas; a son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Renea Hipp, Fort Worth; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jettie and Gordon Holland, Claremore, Oklahoma, Tammy and Mike Pardue and Debbie and David King all of of Midland; eleven grandchildren, Dusty Lann, Crystal Stafford, Corey Hipp, Jason Holland, Amber Knapp, Zac Holland, Tiffany Corson, Josh Holland, Cody King, Bethany Pardue and Devin King; nine great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Emma Lou and Harley Waggoner, Garland, Texas; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Barbara Hipp, Salado, Texas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Larue Wilson, South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, Larry and Tina Wilson, Sterling City, Texas, and Payton and Debbie Wilson, Columbus, Ohio; and many nephews and nieces.
Serving as Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Corey Hipp, Jason Holland, Zac Holland, Joshua Holland, Cody King and Devin King.
Hononorary Pallbearers will be Raymond King and Jimmy's grandsons-in-law, Rainey Lann, Michael Stafford, Anthony Corson and Devin Knapp.
There will be no services or viewing in Troup, Texas. All flowers should be ordered from florists in the Sweetwater, Texas and Blackwell, Texas area. The family is using
Sweetwater Floral Company and Greenhouse 800/621-2932.
