Obituary of Brigitte Davis

Memorial services for Brigitte "Getta" Davis, 73, Troup, will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Cline officiating under direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup. Mrs. Davis died Friday, September 15, 2006 in Troup at her residence. She was born May 15, 1933 in Berlin , Germany to the late Curt and Ida Marx Stoeckel. She moved to Canada from Germany in 1953 and married Wiley Davis May 26, 1954 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She came to the United States in 1955 and received her citizenship in 1959. She served as the State Commander of the Wives of the Submarine Veterans of World War II. She was a proficient seamstress, painter, paper hanger, and a Jack of all trades. She was a member of the Troup Garden Club, where she served as president, and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a good "Nanny" and loved by all her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Wiley Davis, Troup; a son and daughter-in-law, Corky and Beth Davis, Rowlett; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Ricky Renson, and Heidi and Melton Wright, all of Troup; a sister, Renate Schrader, Garland; eleven grandchildren, Christine Renson, Nicholas Renson, Caitlin Renson, Austin Davis, Cameron Davis, Tony Davis, Justin Dixon, Wesley Wright, Joe Wright, Jacob Wright, and Kariann Wright. Honorary pallbearers are Dick Curtis, Kurt Schrader, George Davis, and Darrel Hanson.
