Obituary of Doris Killingsworth

Funeral services for Doris Killingsworth, 86, Overton, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 14, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Othel Laferney officiating. Burial will be in Rusk County Memorial Gardens near Henderson. Mrs. Killingsworth died Monday, September 11, 2006 in Houston after a short illness. Doris was born October 4, 1919 in Gustine, Texas and moved to East Texas in 1936. During her life time she was a Baptist and a member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church, church pianist, and the Rebecca Lodge. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.T. "Snookum" Killingsworth, son Kenneth Killingsworth, mother and Father, W. P. and Tennie Mangess, and sisters, Gertrude Hensley, Grace Tate, Willie Mae Miller, and a brother, Roger Mangess. Doris is survived by one son, William Killingsworth, Wills Point, TX, daughters, Sue Williams and Paulette Cox, Leverett's Chapel, Judy Cox and Terry Branscom, Laird Hill, and De Ann Jordan, New London, TX; one sister, Ethel Odell, Brownwood, TX, and one brother, Gayland Mangess, Norfolk, Virginia. A loving grandmother of 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Wesley Williams, Brent Jordan, Scott Killingsworth, Mike Killingsworth, Brett Killingsworth, and Michael Marin. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Brandon Lane, Josh Killingsworth, Taylor Killingsworth, and Blake Killingsworth. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, at the funeral home.
