Obituary of Lertie Brown Odom
Services for Lertie Brown Odom, 91, Tyler, formerly of Troup, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 12, at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup with the Reverend Ray Davis officiating.
Burial will be in the New Emmaus Cemetery, near Troup.
Mrs. Odom died Saturday, September 9, in a Tyler hospice facility. She was born March 6, 1915, in Troup to the late Ben Brown, Sr. and Vera Stewart Brown.
Mrs. Odom was a retired department manager for Weingarten's in Houston where she worked for 25 years. She returned to Smith County, in 1994.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Cecil Odom; three sisters, Bertie Bullock, Bertha Brown, and Wanda Whistler; and nine brothers, Eugene Brown, Loyd Brown, Garland Brown, Hulan Brown, Johnnie Brown, Oneal Brown, Arthur Lee Brown, Reese Brown, and Bennie Brown.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Betty Odom, North Richland Hills; two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty Sue Britton, Whitehouse and Thetis and Vernon Jackson, Chandler; nine grandchildren, Debra Turncliff, Glenn Britton, Sharon Mayville, Donna Wells, Brenda Parks, Terri Aubain, Ronda Thomson, Kevin Odom, and Eric Odom; 22 great-grandchildren, Kris Calkins, Mathieu Turncliff, Eddie Turncliff, Billy Turncliff, Elizabeth Turncliff, Susan Lyons, Rebecca Britton, Dylan Mayville, Audra West, Andrew Kingsley, Sarah Tomlin, Christina Leigh Seitz, Anna Marlene Seitz, Garrett Aubain, Ashlyn Aubain, Jessica Parks, Logan Thomson, Hannah Thomson, Ryan Thomson, Corey Odom, Taylor Odom, and Ronnie Odom; five great-great-grandchildren, Austin Lyons, Tyler Lyons, Avery Lyons, Darrin Kingsley, and Taylor Kingsley.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Britton, Ed Turncliff, Andrew Kingsley, Jimmy Wells, Kevin Odom, and Eric Odom.
Honorary Pallbearers will Kris Calkins, Matt Turncliff, Eddie Turncliff, and Billy Turncliff.
The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday, September 11.
