Obituary of Hayden Hicks
Services for Hayden Hicks, 85, Hideaway, are schedule for 1:00 pm, Monday, April 12, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton, with the Reverend Doctor Charles Paschall officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, are scheduled for 4:00 pm, Monday in the Lindale City Cemetery.
He passed from this life April 9, 2010 in Tyler. Hayden was born December 14, 1924 in Alderson, Oklahoma. He was a longtime resident of Overton and resided in Hideaway for the last two years. Mr. Hicks served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired in 1989 after many years as an auto body repairman and parts manager for auto dealerships in Oklahoma and Texas. He continued to work part time until the late 1990's. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Overton.
Mr. Hicks is survived by his devoted wife Ruth of Hideaway. They were married for 67 years. He is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Ed Ilschner and Joan and Terry Waters all of Hideaway; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Shirley Hicks, Kilgore and Steve and Diana Hicks, Longview. He also had 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Hicks, Brad Waters, Craig Ilschner, Craig Nations, Peyton Mayes, and Dane Plumley.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Sunday, April 11.
