Obituary of Willie Mae Story

Funeral services for Willie Mae Story, 76, Selman City, will be at 3:00 pm, Sunday, April 11, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton with Reverend Josh Blizzard officiating. Private burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Story died Thursday, April 8, 2010 in a Tyler hospital. She was born January 10, 1934 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late John Quincy and Lora Etta Mitchell Humphries. She was a secretary and retired from Gifford Hill American, Grand Prairie after 26 years. She married James Story, Sr. May 20, 1952. She moved to Selman City in 1992 from Arlington and was a very patriotic person and was a member of the VFW 8535 Ladies Auxiliary of Henderson for 16 years where she has served as Chaplain for 12 years. She has also served as chairman for various committees for the auxiliary and was known for her Italian Cream Cake at the VFW. She loved flowers, gardening, baking and cooking. Survivors include her husband, James Story, Sr. Selman City; two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Story, Jr and Donise of Arlington and Phillip Story of Selman City; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sandra Crawford of Overton; a brother, Jerry Humphries of New London; two sisters, Olene Churchman of Edna and Gloria Alden of Ft. Worth; a granddaughter, Jessica Story and a step grandson, Kyle Crawford and numerous nieces and nephews. The ladies of the VFW 8535 Auxiliary of Henderson will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 Saturday, April 10, at the funeral home.
