Obituary of Gladys L. Rozier Watts Fields

Services for Gladys L. Rozier Watts Fields, 89, Troup, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Monday, April 5 at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup with the Reverend James Cheatham officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup. Mrs. Fields died Saturday, April 3, 2010 in a Whitehouse nursing home. She was born July 28, 1920 in Blackshear, Georgia to the late James Bess Rozier and Esma Manning Rozier, the second oldest of seven children. She had been a resident of Troup since 1980. She moved to East Texas in 1958 and had also lived in Tyler and Hideaway. Mrs. Fields retired as a personnel supervisor with the Georgia Pacific Corporation, Owentown and had also worked for Sterling Faucet, Tyler. She was an avid gardner and walker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Tyler, where she taught Sunday School for many years. In addition to her parents was also preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Survivors include her husband, Joe T. Fields, Troup; daughter, Martha 'Babe' Watts, Plano; son, Raymond Fields, Bullard; sister, Virginia Davis, Patterson, Georgia; granddaughter, Deanna Fields, Tyler; great-grandson, Brycen Taylor; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers will be Henry Edwards, Royal Fields, Bill Fields, C.H. Ford, Jr., Merle Duty and Robert Adams. Honorary Pallbearers will be nephews and Nolan Smith, Tommy Trimble, and S.E. Shuttlesworth. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Sunday, April 4.
