Obituary of Jimmy Rhodes

Funeral services for Jimmy Rhodes, 58, Overton, will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May, 17, at the First Assembly of God Church with Reverend Atwell Hankins officiating. Burial will be in the Overton City Cemetery under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mr. Rhodes died Monday, May 14, 2007 at his residence. He was born June 17, 1948 in Kilgore to the late Cecil Andrew Rhodes and Mary Lurene Skaggs Rhodes. Mr. Rhodes was a lifelong resident of Overton and graduated Overton High School in 1966. He graduated Kilgore College and attended East Texas University at Commerce. He married Debbie Howes January 23, 1987 in Overton and was a member of the Overton Volunteer Fire Department. He retired from West Rusk High School and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Debbie Rhodes, Overton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheri Lynn and Billy Mitchell, and Mary Lou and Jammie Holland, all of Overton; a son, Stephen Jon McKnight, Arp; his mother, Mary Rhodes Lewis, Overton; a brother, Michael Wayne Rhodes, Tyler; a stepdaughter, Terri Richmond, Overton; two stepsons and a step daughter-in-law, Christopher and Dede Barnes, Kilgore, and Ricky Barnes, West Memphis, Arkansas; stepbrother, Richard Lewis, Overton; a stepsister, Sue Johnson, New London; a grandson Trenton Hankins; six step grandchildren, Makayla Moser, Christen Barnes, Mason Barnes, Bailey Ceann Barnes, Johnathan Richmond, and Amanda Richmond; and a nephew, Michael Andrew Rhodes. Pallbearers will be Walter Jackson, Billy Herron, Jammie Holland, Larry Dillard, Joe Croteau and Jerome Walters.
