Obituary of Sharon ‘Sherry’ Mowery
Services for Sharon 'Sherry' Mowery, 61, Troup, are scheduled for 4:00 pm, Tuesday, March 9, at the
First United Methodist Church, Troup with the Reverend Mike Cline officiating.
Mrs. Mowery died Friday, March 5 at her residence. She was born April 12, 1948 in Wichita, Kansas and had been a resident of Troup since 1972.
She held bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Texas at Tyler. She had been a government professor at Tyler Junior College for the past 10 years. Mrs. Mowery was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Troup.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jean Taylor.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur Mowery, Jr. and Kitty Mowery, Armand Mowery and Elizabeth Garner Clark and Bill and Leslie Vavra all of Troup; daughters and sons-in-law, Victoria and Adam LaPrairie, Shreveport and Melonie and Steven Pluth, Troup; children's father, Art Mowery, Sr., Tyler; her father, Hal Whitaker, Sr., Spokane, Washington; brother and sister-in-law, Hal Whitaker, Jr. and Meschelle Whitaker, Green Bay, Wisconsin; sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Dwight Moulin, Chesapeake,Virginia; grandchildren, Alexander Mowery-Batnij, Brittany Mowery, Georgia Culpepper, Olivia Mowery-Frantz, Thomas LaPrairie, Stuart Vavra and Sean Vavra; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
The Family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church following the service.
