Obituary of Ruby Smith
Services for Ruby Irene Smith Swinney, 88, Chapel Hill, will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 25, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton with Reverend Paul Rains officiating. Burial will be in Mason Cemetery, Arp.
Mrs. Smith died Monday, February 22, 2010 in Whitehouse. She was born November 27, 1921 in Arp to the late Thomas Wiley and Mary Nola Miles Swinney. She lived most all her life in the East Texas area and retired from Diamond Shamrock where she worked as a service station manager. She later was a bus driver for the Chapel Hill School District and was a member of the Lakeview Community Church in Chapel Hill.
She was preceded in death by her husband L.C. Smith and a son, Gary L. Smith.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Jack and Margaret Smith of Toledo, Oregon, James D. and LaVeeta Smith of New Chapel Hill, and Jay L. and Wilma Smith of Vega; a daughter, Eolia Irene Smith of South Houston; seventeen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, February 24.
