Obituary of Carolyn Cook

Graveside services for Carolyn Standard Cook, 65, New London, will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, February 24 at the Crims Chapel Cemetery with the Reverends Atwell Hankins and Pat Stephens officiating under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.  Carolyn left this earth to be with the Lord on Monday, February 22, 2010.  She was under the care of hospice at her home in New London, Texas where she was surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly. Carolyn was the daughter of the late Willis Carl and Ollie Joe Standard. She was born in Henderson, Texas on October 18, 1944 and was raised in Crims Chapel. Carolyn married Danny Clyde Cook, whom she celebrated a 50 year anniversary with last October. She was able to celebrate the event in Hawaii with the love of her life. She was an employee of West Rusk I.S.D. from 1980-2000.  Carolyn's favorite thing to do was to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was a very hard worker and took care of everyone. She loved to cook and made every visitor feel at home. Carolyn had no enemies. She was a firm believer in God and gave him glory until the day of her death. In addition to her pararents Carolyn was preceded in death by a sister, Charlene Standard. Mrs. Cook is survived by her  husband, Danny Cook; daughter, Cindy Mitchell of New London; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Kelli Cook of New London; grandchildren, Marcus Mitchell, Paige Mitchell, Megan Cook, and Austin Cook, all of New London; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Pekida Standard of Spring Hill and Amos and Sherri Standard of Henderson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Genell Grammer and Roy Elliott of Henderson and Jo and Bob Green of Marshall; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pall bearers will be nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Tuesday, February 23. Donations can be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, P.O.
