Obituary of Lorene Dodson

Funeral services for Lorene Elizabeth Dodson, 89, Ashdown, Arkansas, formerly of Overton, are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 24 at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton with the Reverend Johnny Wright officiating. Burial will be in Overton City Cemetery. Mrs. Dodson died Sunday, February 21, 2010 in Ashdown, Arkansas. She was born February 29, 1920 in Overton to the late Barron Scott and Nettie Ellamae Still Gill. She was a lifelong resident of Overton and moved to Ashdown, Arkansas in 2001. She attended Overton Schools and was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Overton Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joel Dodson September 6, 1982, four brothers, Joe Gll, Speck Gill, Weldon Gill, and Eddie Don Gill and two sisters, Mattie Merle Jackson and Edna Mae Gill. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Edward and Karen Thrash, Austin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Ann and Elbert Dossett, Nacogdoches and Alma Lou and Perry Burr, Ashdown, Arkansas; a brother, Bobby Gill, Overton; two sisters, Gladys Large and DeOpal Middlebrooks, both of Overton; nine grandchildren, Amber Harville, Rebecca Miles, Candace Nguyen, M.D., Nathaniel Thrash, Dana Lynn Henson, Cynthia Ann Parker, Joseph Fielden, Timothy Fielden and Aaron Fielden; fourteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 23.
