Obituary of Phillip McKnight

Funeral services for Phillip N. McKnight, 60, Arp, will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 4, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Arp with Reverend Gary Wheeler and Reverend Ennis Fuller officiating. Burial will be in McKnight Cemetery, Cushing, at 1:00 p.m. Mr. McKnight died Monday, February 1, 2010 in a hospice facility in Tyler. He was born January 17, 1950 in Arp to Vader and Lela Swink McKnight. He was a lifelong resident of Arp and married Kathy Buttram, August 18, 1972 in Nacogdoches. He owned and operated M& M Glass in Overton and Carthage, and Martex Glass, Marshall. After his retirement, he worked at Lowes, Henderson. He is a member of the Canton Masonic Lodge # 98, Arp. His kids and grandkids were his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Vader McKnight and a sister, Margie McIntosh. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Kathy McKnight of Arp; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stephen Jon McKnight of Arp and Mikey and Kaycee McKnight of Carthage; three daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Keith Latham and Joey Stephens, all of Arp, and Tammie and Bryan Case, of Beaumount; his mother, Lela McKnight of Arp; two brothers, Dean McKnight of Arp and Clement McKnight of Carthage; a sister, Shirley Fuller of Cushing; eight grandchildren, Jacob McKnight, Jonathan McKnight, Kennedy Hardy, Haleigh Latham, Sydney Hardy, Riley Stephens, Landon Latham, and Holden McKnight; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jacob McKnight, Sammy Ray Allen, Eddie Lynn Calicutt, Ricky Lyles, Jackie Lacy, Phil Cloke, and Members of the Canton Masonic Lodge #98, Arp. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. To 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3 at the funeral home.
