Obituary of J.W. Tomlin
Services for J.W. Tomlin, Jr., 86, Whitehouse, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Monday, July 3, at the Mount Carmel Baptist Church, near Whitehouse, with the Reverend Bennie Portwood officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery under the direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Mr. Tomlin died Saturday, July 1, in a Whitehouse nursing home. He was born June 12, 1920, near Tyler, to the late James William Tomlin, Sr. and Lillie Mae Spier Tomlin. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Mr. Tomlin moved from Dallas to Whitehouse in 2000 and was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Mr. Tomlin retired from the Veterans Administration where he worked as an Accounting Clerk for 34 years. He also retired from the City of Dallas.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Earl Tomlin.
Survivors include two nephews, Clint Tomlin, Gilmer and Jerry Tomlin, Sugarland; and numerous cousins.
Deacons of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Sunday, July 2.
