Obituary of Dorothy Toole

Services for Dorothy Martin Toole, 86, are scheduled for 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 4, at the Cottle Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Doug Blanton officiating. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Cemetery, Troup. Mrs. Toole died Saturday, July 1, in a Tyler hospice. She was born April 18, 1920, in the Concord Community, near Troup to the late Marion 'Pete' and Maggie M. Pope Martin. She was a graduate of Troup High School and was a lifetime resident of Troup. Mrs. Toole owned and operated Toole's Grocery from 1949 until 1979. She also worked at the Brass Light Inn in Troup and from 1986 until 1988 at the Cash and Carry, Overton. She retired from the Wal-Mart, Jacksonville after almost 10 years service. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Troup. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was known for her hard work and dedication. Mrs. Toole married David 'Mutt' Toole February 1, 1941. He preceded her in death April 18, 1985. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joel David Toole; three brothers, John Martin, Joe Frank Martin, and William Arthur Martin; and a sister, Margie Johnston. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Kathy Toole, Troup; a sister, Loniza Dodson, Troup; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Tammy and Drew Scahill, Tomball; a grandson, Wayne Toole, Beaumont; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew Toole, Megan Toole, and Rachel Toole, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be William Martin, Jason Martin, Joe Johnston, Eugene Toole, Jeff Martin, David Toole, Justin Johnston, and Jason Johnston. If desired, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Troup, P O Box 172, Troup, Tx 75789. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday, July 3.
