Obituary of Bobby Busby

Services for Bobby J. Busby, 64, Troup are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Thursday, December 17 at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup with Reverends Jeanne Kriel and Donna Campbell officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Bradford Cemetery, Troup. Mr. Busby died Tuesday, December 15, 2009, in a Tyler hospice facility. He was born July 23, 1945 in Kaufman to the late Clifton and Myrtie Pless Busby. He had been a longtime resident of East Texas. He was a graduate of Troup High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Busby was a retired painter and was a member of the Laney-Gambrell American Legion Post #418, Troup. He was a Christian and enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Carolyn Busby. He married Gloria Shuttlesworth in Tyler, Jun 22, 1965. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Gloria Busby, Troup; two daughters and a son-in-law, Shantel and Dennis York, Jacksonville and Becky Dowdy, Troup; a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Ann Busby, Chapel Hill; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Glenn Cornelison; Troup; grandchildren and their spouses, Lauren and Bennie Davenport, Kristia and James Crane, Christopher and Dionna Mayo, Megan Dowdy and Keely Busby; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Tad Neely, Chris Mayo, James Crane, Dennis York, Stevie Stock, and Robert Burton. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Fitch, Connie Stovall, Michael Neil, Gene Merle Hill, Gerald Glen Busby, and Robert Glenn Cornelison. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Drive, Tyler, Tx 75701. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, December 16.
