Obituary of Melissa Kay Gillispie

Funeral services for Melissa K.'Missy' Lyles Gillispie, 48, Arp, will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 6, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Rice and Reverend Daniel Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery near Arp. Mrs. Gillispie died Friday, December 4, 2009 at her residence. She was born October 1, 1961 in Tyler to the late Chester Thorone Lyles and Edith Ann Whisenhunt Lyles. She was a life long resident of Arp and graduated Arp High School in 1980. She attended Tyler Junior College and had been a lead land technician for EOG Resources, Inc for seventeen years and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Arp. Besides her father, she was also preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, W.W. and Flossie Lyles and her maternal grandparents, J. J. and Leo Whisenhunt. Survivors include a son, Lee Gillispie of Arp; her mother and stepfather, Edith and E. C. Starkes of Troup; a brother, Randall 'Dugan'Lyles of Overton; a sister, Deborah Howard of Troup; three stepsisters, Susan Denman and Sunni Starkes, both of Canton, and Dee Dee Barrett of Burleson; two nephews, Stathen Shuttlesworth and Colton Lyles;  and a niece, Camryn Lyles. Pallbearers will be Don Reep, David Howard, Claude Bethune, Todd Lyles, Dicky Shuttlesworth and Jon Lyles. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Saturday, December 5.
