Obituary of Sarah Thomas

Funeral services for Sarah Lucille Thomas, 85, Overton, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24, in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, near Overton with Reverend Brian Etheridge and Reverend Pete Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Overton under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mrs. Thomas died Sunday, November 22, 2009 in a Henderson Hospital. She was born April 8, 1924 in Frisco to the late Alex and Sarah Ann Patterson Owen. She moved to the Overton area 58 years ago from Mineola and she was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvil Ross Thomas in 1968 and a son Dwain Thomas in 2002. She was also preceded by two brothers and six sisters. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Jodie Thomas of Madisonville and Gary and Kathy Thomas of Overton; a daughter, Sue Fretz of Henderson; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Thomas of Overton; very dear friends, Brother and Sister Harold Davis, eleven grandchildren, twenty six great grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be from grandsons, Reid Thomas, Kris Thomas, Randy Thomas, Duane Street, Brandon Matthews and Kevin Cooper. Honorary pallbearer will be Cameron Street. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 24 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
