Burial will follow at Union Grove Cemetery outside of Troup. Our precious Granny has gone home to be with her Savior. Doris Williams passed away June 7, 2006, in a Henderson nursing home, 2 days after her 84th birthday. Doris Toole was born June 5, 1922 outside of Troup to the late John and Mettie Ann Toole. She was also preceded in death by numerous siblings, among them, sisters, Essie and Addie Keel, and brothers Robert, David, and Johnie Toole. Left alone at the age of 8 to live with different relatives, Doris learned a strength and toughness that would see her through many difficult situations the rest of her life. In spite of this, she never lost her sweet and gentle spirit. A graduate of Salem High School, she went to work in California during World War II. After the war, she married the love of her life, Ollie Williams. Doris and Ollie celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this past December. Also surviving her are a daughter and son-in-law, Glenna and Lindsay Marshall of Arp; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerald Williams of Troup, and Roy and Kim Williams of Longview. She leaves 7 adoring grandchildren and spouses. They are Andy and Marcy Marshall of New London, Erica and Harvey Covey of Bullard, Jessica and Kevin Kelsey of Troup, Courtney Marshall of Nacogdoches, Shannon Williams of Tyler, and Jennifer and Zachary Williams of Longview. Seven great-grandchildren were the light of Granny's life. They are Jacob and Cole Marshall, Abbey, Aaron, and Allan Covey, and Savanna and Chance Kelsey. Also surviving are four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Toole, Senda Williams, Ruby Brown, and Maxine Childress. Pallbearers will be Ray Toole, Gene Shuttlesworth, David Toole, Travis Thompson, Kevin Kelsey, and James Colvin. Honorary pallbearers are Sam Keel and Eugene Toole. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, June 9. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701.
