Obituary of Rolen L. Bailey
Services for Rolen Louis Bailey, Gould community near Troup, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 1, in the Cottle Funeral Home Chapel, Troup, with Reverend Gary Sparks and Reverend Doctor Ron Klingsick officiating. Burial will be in the Bullard Cemetery.
Mr. Bailey died Friday, October 30, 2009 in a Tyler hospice. He was born October 9, 1916 in Bullard to the late Oscar Warren and Pearl Council Bailey. He married Minnie Carlile in Troup July 18, 1936. He retired from Hunt Oil Company as well as Schlachter Oil Company. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Olen Bailey and Winfred Bailey; four sisters, Beulah Blackwood, Reba Deutsch, Maudie Boulter, and Dessie Pruitt; two great-grandchildren, Blake Morgan and Cody Bailey.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Minnie Bailey, Troup; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Martha Bailey, Troup, and Donnie and Jessie Bailey, Shawnee, Oklahoma; two daughters and a son-in-law, Annabell Arnold, Arp, and Connie and Roger Watkins, Houston; a sister, Jewel West, Port Aransas; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Grandsons.
Dr. James Hamilton will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Saturday, October 31.
