Obituary of Billy Andrew Morris

Funeral services for Billy Andrew 'Old Man' Morris, 67, Joinerville, are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, October 9 at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton with the Reverend W.L. Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Asbury Cemetery near Overton. Mr. Morris died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in a hospice facility in Tyler. He was born August 27, 1942 in Hickory Plains, Arkansas to the late John Sherman and Emma Louise Goebel Morris. He married Mary Frances Clark May 3, 1964 in Lonoke, Arkansas and moved to Joinerville in 1979. He was a rig supervisor for Davis Well Service, Longview and he was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Overton. He was also a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Deaton November 24, 2006 and twin brother and sister, Rubert Morris and Ruby Turner. Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Morris, Joinerville; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy S. and Toni Morris, New London and Kevin G. and Kathy Morris, New Diana; brother, William Morris, Amarillo; sister, Lois Fawcett, Lonoke, Arkansas; son-in-law, Greg Deaton, New London; grandsons, Kyle Morris, Zachary Morris, Jaedan Morris, Nicholas Mitchell and Steven Jordan Bates; granddaughters, Kendra Hamlet, Amanda Deaton, Melody Deaton, and Whitney Mitchell; two great-granddaughters, Lexie Hamlet and Lorelai Hamlet; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Curtis Hamlet, Ricky Hamlet, Johnny Hamlet, Billy Hamlet, John Hamlet, Jr., and Stephen Gramling. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Thursday, October 8.
