Obituary of Jessie Edgar Cunningham
Funeral services for Jessie Edgar 'J.E.' Cunningham, 75, Henderson, will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 29, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton, with Reverends, Artie Jones and Ernest Higginbotham officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery near Overton.
Mr. Cunningham died Sunday, September 27, 2009 at his residence. He was born May 11, 1934 in Hemphill to the late Jessie Edgar and Mary Cunningham. He moved to Henderson in 1952 from Hemphill and married Josie Arletha Waggoner November 5, 1953 in Henderson. He was a long haul truck driver and worked for Young Trucking Company, Houston. After his retirement, he was a lumberjack and cut firewood and made pulpwood and enjoyed giving it away.
Mr. Cunningham was a member of the National Riffle Association and loved to hunt. He enjoyed telling stories and was a wonderful husband, father, and 'PawPaw' and was loved very much by the many who looked up to him. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Henderson.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son in 1958, Jessie Dean Cunningham.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Josie Cunningham of Henderson; a son Earl Gene Cunningham of Kilgore; three daughters and sons-in-law, Josie Gwen Williams and Fredie Joe Williams, Sr. of Henderson, Loye Leona and Blaine Fancher of New London, and Penny Lynn and Jerry Vinson of Overton; a sister, Martha Thompson of San Antonio; eleven grandchildren, Fredie Joe Williams, Jr., Edgar Cole Williams, Weldon Lavon Williams, Andrew James Jones, Billy J. Jones, Coy Jake Jones, Kandis Dawn Skibo, Jeremy Christopher Vinson, Heather Arletha Vinson, Jessie Raymond Vinson, and Jason Dean Vinson; eightteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Fredie Joe Williams, Jr., Edgar Cole Williams, Weldon Lavon Williams, Andrew James Jones, Billy J. Jones, Coy Jake Jones, Jeremy Christopher Vinson, Jessie Raymond Vinson, and Jason Dean Vinson.
Honorary pallbearers will be sons-in-law, Fredie Joe Williams, Sr., Blaine Fancher and Jerry Vinson.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 28, at the funeral home.
