Obituary of Mary Strange

MARY D. STRANGE Funeral services for Mary D. Strange, 81, Overton, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 20, 2006 in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Bill Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Overton City Cemetery. Mrs. Strange died Wednesday, May 17, 2006 in Kilgore. She was born July 28, 1924 In North Dakota to the late Elmer Slade and Katherine Angeline Tooker DeLaney. She received a business degree from Arizona State University and married William M. 'Billy' Strange November 2, 1947 in Phoenix, Arizona. She moved to the East Texas area in 1949 from Phoenix, Arizona and lived in Overton 52 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Overton First Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin DeLaney, George DeLaney, and Don DeLaney; a sister, Phoebe Angeline DeLaney; and a grandson, Troy Lee Strange. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, William M. 'Billy' Strange of Overton; a son, William M. 'Bill' Strange II, and his wife, Anita of Overton; three daughters and a son-in-law, Mariana P. and Charles W. Emmerich of Houston, Kathy S. Moody and Karen J. Strange, both of Overton; two brothers, J. Slade Delaney of Bend, Oregon, and Guy DeLaney of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister, Bura Jane Hahn of San Jose, California; six grandsons; four great grandsons; two great granddaughters; one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Cameron Strange, Heath Strange, Neal Rich, Charlie MoodyNoble Welch, and Montie Rouquett. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons from the First Baptist Church, Dennis May, Dr. Jim Hamilton, Bill Wall, Clarence Beekman, and H. B. Shamburger. Visitation will be from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, May 19 at the funeral home.
