Obituary of Ray Hardin
Funeral services for Ray B. Hardin, 79, Kilgore, will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel, Overton with Reverend Mark Hendrick officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4:00 p.m. in New Hope Cemetery near Farrar.
Mr. Hardin died Saturday, September 12, 2009 at his residence. He was born November 9, 1929 in Wink to the late Benjamin Lamar and Cora Mae Chandler Hardin. He is a Veteran of the US Army and lived in the Kilgore area most all his life. He married Cora Mae Edge December 29, 1968 and was an accountant for Mobile Oil for twenty four years. He was a cattleman and loved his land and cattle and knowing he was near death, he chose to stay home with his family.
Mr. Hardin loved music and he enjoyed singing gospel music in church quartets. He attended the Kilgore Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Hardin will be missed by loving family and his beloved dogs, Buddy and Ramona.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Lamar Hardin and Ernest Monroe Hardin and a grandson, David Reynolds.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Cora Hardin of Kilgore; his stepdaughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Bob Reynolds of Bryan; his sister, Ola Mae Bonds of Kilgore; a grandson, Dr. Marty Reynolds of Kerrville; great grandchildren, Lindsay Reynolds of Commerce, Jason Reynolds of College Station, and Scott Reynolds of Corpus Christi; nieces and nephews, Ben Hardin, Charlotte Lucas, Neena Harris, Joe Bonds, and Melinda Rich, great nieces and nephews, Michael Rich, Christopher Rich, Wes Hardin, Dennis Lucas, Melissa Miller, Jared Norman, Jaremy Bonds, Joshua Bonds, and Alecia Barber; and many more great great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Rich, Chris Rich, Wes Hardin, Ben Hardin, Joe Bonds and Eddie Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Mack Monday and Donnie Reid.
Visitation will be fro 6:00 p.m. Until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 13, at the funeral home.
