Obituary of David Downs
Funeral services for David Downs, 50, Grapevine, will be at 11:00 a.m, Wednesday, August 19, at Henry's Chapel United Methodist Church near Troup with Reverend Steve Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Henry's Chapel Cemetery under direction of Cottle Funeral Home, Troup.
Mr. Downs died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at his residence in Grapevine. He was born May 22, 1959 in Orange, TX to Ray B. and Evelyn Florence Downs. He was raised in Hobbs, New Mexico, along with his older sister Pat. He later married his high school girlfriend, June Rogers and began working in the oil business. Together David and June had two children, Kim and Ross. David was very active in church and known for his love of music and beautiful voice. As the years went on, life brought David and his family to the Grapevine area. It was here where he went back to school and began working for Southwestern Bell. For the last few years of David's life he spent his time enjoying and making memories with his family. David was preceded in death by his father, Ray Downs.
He is survived by his mother Evelyn, wife June, children Kim and Ross, sister Pat Koonce and her husband Larry Koonce, and several nieces and nephews. David will be forever missed but never forgotten.
Pallbearers will be Gabriel Morro, Freddy Paul, Brendan Taylor, Larry Martin,
Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Wham, Ronnie Roberts, and Harry Best.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Diabetics Association, 4100 Alpha Road, # 100, Dallas, TX 75244.
