Obituary of William D. Flud
Services for William D. 'Bill' Flud, 75, Overton are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton with the Reverend Henry Brown officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in the Overton City Cemetery.
Mr. Flud died Sunday, August 2, 2009, in a Tyler hospice facility. He was born November 27, 1933, in Eufaula, Oklahoma to the late Delmer Russell Flud and Linnie Mae Cunningham Flud. He was a US Army veteran.
Mr. Flud lived in California for many years and owned and operated three cab companies in Petaluma, California. He had been a resident of Overton since 1989 and he and his wife operated numerous Overton businesses including Gwendolyn's Movies, Creations from the Heart, the Laundrymat, and an apartment complex.
He attended the Bible Baptist Church, Overton.
Mr. Flud married Margie Sanborn in Reno, Nevada, March 2, 1975.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, James Edward Brewington and two brothers, Clarence Flud and John Flud.
Surivors include his wife of 34 years, Margie Flud, Overton; daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine L. Baisden and Maynard Robbins, Michigan, Sandy and Wes Lyda, Orting, Washington, Wendy and James Lowe, Napa Valley, California and daughter and fiance, Gwendolyn Flud Rains and Erich Lindsay, Overton; former son-in-law, Jason Rains, Overton; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard and Joyce Flud and Lawrence Flud all of Cushing, Oklahoma; two sisters, Sylvia Underwood and Christine Hampton both of Porterville, California; grandchildren, Maggie Baisden-Robbins, Rachel Lyda, John Lyda, Sean Lowe, Thomas Wayne Rains, and James William Rains; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Samuel D. And Jackie Sanborn, Clear Lake; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pauline and Bill Neal, Overton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Robert Welch, Brian Welch, Jason Rains, Erich Lindsay, Joe Todd, and Brandon Gurley.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 5.
