Obituary of Lorain Rhodes

Services for Lorain Rhodes, 73, Troup, are scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, April 24, at the Cottle Funeral Home chapel, Troup with the Reverend James Cheatham officiating. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery, near Troup. Mrs. Rhodes died Saturday, April 22, 2006 at her residence in Troup. She was born September 21, 1932, in the Salem Community near Troup to the late Hildred and Minnie James Womack. She attended Salem Schools and was a graduate of Troup High School. She also attended Tyler Business College. Mrs. Rhodes worked in the insurance, bookkeeping and tax fields. She was co-owner of the Bill Dumas Insurance Agency, Troup. She also served as the Tax Assessor for the Troup Independent School District and the City of Troup. She was a member of the Troup Chapter #421 of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Troup. She was preceded in death by her father, Hildred Womack, January 10, 2004 and her mother, Minnie James Womack, March 22, 1980. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, and MawMaw. Survivors include her husband, Charles Nathan Rhodes, Sr. Troup; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Rhodes, Jr. and Marla Rhodes, Troup; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Sam and Annelle Womack, Tyler and David and Judy Womack, Uvalde; two loving grandsons, Adam Rhodes and Ben Rhodes; a loving granddaughter, Elizabeth Rhodes; a great-grandson, Kayden Rhodes; two nephews, David Womack, Jacksonville and Jason Womack, Dallas; and a niece, Janice McCoy, Jacksonville. Pallbearers will be Adam Rhodes, Ben Rhodes, Rex Worl, Billy Slaughter, Joe Layne, and Buddy Womack. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Sunday, April 23.
