Obituary of Michael Todd Smith
Funeral services for Michael Todd Smith, 49, Arp, will be at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 16, in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel, Overton with the Reverend Kim Beckham officiating.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m Saturday, July 18, in the Canon Funeral Home Chapel, Waller with Reverend David Sumlin officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery, Hockley.
Visitation will be Friday, July 17, 2009 from 5 to 8pm at Canon Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Smith died Wednesday, July 15, 2009 in a Tyler hospital. He was born January 12, 1960 in Hempstead to the late Oscar Edgar 'Tubby' and Margarett Ruth Whatley Smith. He graduated Arp High School in 1978 and attended Louisiana Tech and Sam Houston State University. He married Glenda Santistevan October 8, 1988 in Houston. He served as a Little League Coach for many years and was a volunteer for Cy-Fair Sports Association in the Houston Area. He also served as secretary for the Macedonia Cemetery Association and was on the Cattlemans Committee for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Association. He moved to Arp six months ago from Houston and was a regional manager for Qwik Pipe, Henderson. He attended the Central Baptist Church in Tyler and is a member of the Terra Verde Community Church, Rosehill.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Smith, Arp; a son, Korde Michael Smith, Arp; a daughter, Santana Kimber Smith, Arp; a brother, Thump Phillips, Houston; a sister, Debbie Gilispie, Arp; four nephews and a niece, Clint Michael Gillispie, Cayle Gillispie, Gavin Todd Phillips, Ryan Burtrum and Madison Burtrum.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Lovell, Carlos Scott, Jimmy Kuzniarek, Tim Dixon, Jesus Guerra, Paul Garrett, Clint Gillispie, Cayle Gillispie, John Gillispie, Ken Gillispie and and Chuck Knight.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p,m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.
